Keanu Reeves Filming John Wick 4 In Multiple Countries

Lionsgate confirms that filming for John Wick 4 is underway in what appears to be a global filming project.

The Lionsgate panel recently appeared at CinemaCon and revealed that Keanu Reeves is currently at work with the filming of John Wick 4 in three different countries. John Wick 4 will also feature the returns of Lawrence Fishburne as The Bowery King and Lance Reddick as Charon - the concierge of the New York Continental Hotel. Ian McShane will also return as Winston. We’ll also see plenty of new additions to the cast which include Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson and Bill Skarsgard.

Plot details for John Wick 4 still largely remain under wraps, however we presume it will pick up where John Wick 3 left off. In the ending of John Wick 3, Winston appeared to have betrayed John Wick in order to move up the ranks of the High Table by shooting him and leaving him for dead. John Wick is subsequently saved by the Bowery King. An alliance is the supposedly formed between the two in order to take down the High Table.

John Wick 4 was initially set to be released in 2021, however, filming problems caused by Covid-19 have pushed the release date of the movie to 2022. Keanu Reeves also had to juggle his commitments with the upcoming Matrix Resurrections movie which further delayed the production of John Wick 4. Matrix Resurrections appears to be all wrapped up now, so Keanu is back at work with the upcoming John Wick project.

During the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon, a tweet was sent out by Aaron Couch – an editor of The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog. The tweet provided an interesting update on the filming of John Wick 4, in which Lionsgate has apparently confirmed that production is continuing for John Wick 4 and Keanu Reeves is currently busy shooting in three different countries. The full tweet is below:

Production for John Wick 4 was more or less revealed to have started back in June 2021, however this is the first time Lionsgate has explicitly confirmed that Keanu Reeves is back shooting for the movie. The first three John Wick movies were predominantly set in New York, but they did feature John Wick travelling to Rome in John Wick: Chapter 2. There were also scenes in Morocco in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Therefore it comes as no real surprise that John Wick 4 will yet again see the titular character globe-trotting in his latest adventure. What will be most intriguing to fans at this stage is why John Wick will be travelling so much in the latest instalment in the franchise -a question that will be answered in due course as we learn more about the movie in the coming weeks and months.

We can assume that John Wick 4 is aiming to deliver at a grander scale than its predecessors given the number of new additions to the casting and the decision to shoot the film in so many different locations. We all love to speculate about our favourite movies, so could these new additions be revealed to be members of the High Table, and could the countries mentioned be some of the locations that they are based in across the globe? Or could it be that John Wick is on his travels to enlist the help of some trustworthy comrades he must travel far and wide to locate in order to stand a chance in taking down the High Table? For now these questions remain open, and all will no doubt be answered when the movie releases in theaters in May 2022.
